Air Zimbabwe’s New Baggage Allowance

The national flag ship carrier of Zimbabwe, Air Zimbabwe (UM) is the only carrier offering direct flights to Harare, the capital of the country from departure point London Gatwick. The airline that dominates the direct flight market has recently done some policy changes towards its Free Baggage Allowance.

In its most recent notification, Air Zimbabwe informs that its new free baggage allowance for flights to Harare and Bulawayo from London Gatwick Airport is 2 PC. The term 2 PC refers to a ‘piece concept’ signifying that the travelers are eligible to carry 2 pieces of luggage each person or child (excludes infant).

In the piece concept, each customer can take his baggage divided into two packs/suit cases each weighing not more than 23 Kilos each in general. However, Air Zimbabwe travelers should remember that the carrier only allows “40 kilos” of free baggage. In other words, when flying with this Zimbabwean airline the travelers should not pack more than 20 kilos in each bag and the limit for free baggage is 40 kilos in total.

Here, please note that the free Baggage is only the luggage that is sent in the airline’s baggage compartment / cargo. The ‘hand luggage’ is separate to that and is in addition to the free baggage allowance assigned by many airlines. In this case, when flying with Air Zimbabwe, air travelers departing from UK Gatwick airport can take 7 kilos in hand carry, in addition to the 40 kilos of free baggage.

As this information is currently getting loaded on major GDS systems, thereby for details please contact Travel House UK, Air Zimbabwe’s biggest sellers and proud to be the one platform for hassle free reservation with our very dear carrier, Air Zimbabwe (UM).

Other popular routes of Air Zimbabwe include flights to Johannesburg, the capital of South Africa that is a neighboring country to Zimbabwe. Also, Air Zimbabwe popularly known as ‘Air Zim’ offers flights to Victoria Falls via Harare, the world’s natural wonder.
