during 2019’s dota 2 matches 2 the international, og emerged victorious over team liquid to take home the aegis of champions once again. the professional european dota 2 esports organization with red bull on their logo are back-to-back champions after also winning in 2018. before the final match of the grand finals, valve revealed that the international 10 will be held in stockholm, sweden.

this announcement was revealed after a montage of moments at past international events. with the international 10 being held in stockholm, sweden, many european fans are in great spirits. the first international event was held in cologne, germany. since then, all of the other events have been held in north america, canada, or china. europe has also been considered one of the strongest regions for dota, just like how korea is the powerhouse for league of legends. even team liquid, a north american esports organization, is still considered a european team for dota 2.

the international 2020 event will start off with a base usd $15 million prize pool. each year’s prize pool has been broken through in-game crowdfunding. this year, the prize pool ended up with a total of usd $34 million raised. this is considered the largest esports prize pool in history.

the ericsson globe, formerly known as the stockholm globe arena, is most likely where the international 2020 will take place. this indoor arena lies in the johanneshov district of stockholm. the arena is primarily used for viewing ice hockey. it is also the largest hemispherical building on earth and has a seating capacity for 16,000 spectators.
