Egyptian Civil Unrest – Customer Guidelines by British Airways

British Airways customers are hereby informed that the airline has released its official customer guideline for travelers to or from Egypt. The carrier stated that as a result of civil unrest in Cairo, the FCO have advised all but essential travel to Cairo.

British-Airways-logoFurther to that, the following guidelines have been issued to cover customers who hold a British Airways (BA) ticket to travel to / from Cairo.   Here, please note that British Airways flights to/from Sharm el Sheikh are currently operating as normal.

Advice for customers on OPERATING flights to or from the destinations listed below

Airports Affected: Cairo

Tickets issued by: 28th Jan 2011

Original Travel dates: 28th Jan – 3rd Feb 2011

New Travel dates: up to 28th Feb 2011

Rebooking Allowance: Lowest in Cabin

Destination Change on tickets: Yes 

New Travel Dates: Any dates

Refunds: Yes (Only for tickets due to travel 28th Jan – 3rd Feb 2011)

Please note that customers may use the value of the ticket towards the purchase of a new ticket to a different destination or transfer to use Sharm el Sheikh as alternative gateway to Cairo city.

The airline has also specified its advice for customers who are PART WAY through their journey that they can rebook onto the next available British Airways flight back to their origin or rebook to an earlier date to continue their journey, if the same booking class is not available then the lowest in class may be booked.
